Missouri State is affiliated with the
Gulf
Coast Research Laboratory (GCRL), a field station located in Ocean Springs,
Mississippi. Students can take courses in marine science at GCRL during the
summer, and certain courses at Missouri State include a fall field trip to
GCRL.
The GCRL summer schedule is usually
available early in January. See the GCRL bulletin board near Temple Hall
room 225 or the link to "summer field program" on the GCRL web-site. The courses usually fill, so be ready to enroll in January.
Further information and application forms are available from Dr. Chris
Barnhart or Dr. Dan Beckman. Regular course offerings at GCRL are listed in
the Biology Department section of the Missouri State catalog, but the
schedule varies from year to year.
The GCRL web site has maps, information on
student housing and nearby communities. You might also want to check out the
nearby J. L. Scott Marine Museum in Biloxi.
