Ph.D. (Zoology), University of Wisconsin, 1984.

My research is in the area of population and community ecology, with particular focus on organisms living in freshwater habitats. Most of my own work is on zooplankton, while my students have worked with algae, zooplankton, insects, snails, fish and crayfish. Current research topics include processes regulating dispersal of exotic species, the role of zooplankton in large rivers, and the effects of disturbance on lakes and streams.
