Research and professional interests
My research focuses on determining how blood vessel branching patterns form and how blood vessels mature during embryonic development. More specifically, I am interested in understanding the role that hemodynamic forces, created by blood flow, play in the formation of vessel hierarchies and smooth muscle cell recruitment. I perform mouse embryo culture and confocal imaging to visualize these processes, and use molecular techniques to discover signaling pathways that respond to hemodynamic force.
